We already announced it in our Autumn Bulletin: we had originally planned a six-day series of events in various cities in Germany with the coordinators of the Palestinian-Israeli women’s* seminar. Due to the pandemic situation, the coordinators are currently areunable to leave Israel and Palestine, nor can they enter Germany. Also, the number of corona cases in Germany is increasing. Therefore, we have decided to move the events into the digital space. However, we hope to be able to catch up on the face-to-face events in spring 2021.
There are three dates to choose from – we would like to invite you to participate in one of the three events „Feminist Perspectives of Cross-Border Dialogue at Grassroots Level – Women* from Israel and Palestine share their experiences“.
The event will focus an the folling questions:
Solving the Israel-Palestine conflict and bringing occupation of the Westbank to an end through dialogue? Is that possible? And how can we make a start? The Israel-Palestine conflict is a long-lasting conflict, often perceived as very deadlocked. Under the umbrella of the project „Vacation from War – Dialogues across Borders“, activists from Israel and Palestine organize dialogue seminars for young Israelis and Palestinians every year. How does getting to know the perspective of the „Others“ change one’s own view of the conflict, the political situation on the ground or even the view of personal and collective narratives? To what extent does dialogue pave the way for joint conflict resolution?
Israeli and Palestinian coordinators of the project (and former participants) share their experiences, the challenges of their political work on the ground and their perspectives on the current political situation. Further they will reveal why they think it is necessary to have dialogue seminars specifically for women* and what makes them so special, including the significance of adopting a feminist perspective in both the seminar setting and the larger field of conflict transformation.
